Tantrum of collectivism

Manfesto is the project which challenged my skill of design by using the master Wolfgang Weingart' language of design to portrait one unique trait of Vietnam that I want to introduce to him. As I've seen and heard many Western people's stereotypical about collective culture, the project started with the initial idea of justification for collectivism/socialism in Vietnam, and clarify the definition of individualism which is enhanced within the country. The project took about 1 week to complete with the core of surreal and Bauhaus elements

About Weingart

Wolfgang Weingart, being German, would likely be interested in exploring the concept of collectivism, a cornerstone of socialist culture in his homeland.

In Vietnam, where community is highly valued, I want to challenge the Western stereotype that Asian kindness is forced. Vietnamese people genuinely embrace community, recognizing its power to foster collaboration, generate greater benefits for all, and ultimately empower individuals more than solitary pursuits.

To illustrate this, I'll use the metaphor of pizza. Eight equal slices represent a collective society, ensuring fairness. If one person cuts their slice in half, the remaining seven must struggle to divide the rest equally, highlighting the challenges of unchecked individualism.

Weingart is renowned for his film layering technique. While I'll embrace modern digital tools, I'll aim for an illusion of depth within flat layers. To evoke a sense of history, all elements will be filtered with noise, resembling a grainy lithographic photograph, rendered in grayscale with the exception of blue symbolizing peace and red representing danger.

This project explores a nuanced concept, and the process of reflecting on it has been incredibly valuable.
